Sync iCloud Calendar with Google Calendar

Copy iCloud events into Google Calendar, send Google events to Apple Calendar, or keep availability visible in both. Start by deciding whether you need a combined view or copies on separate calendars.

Do you need to see both calendars or copy events?

If you only want your schedule in one place, add your Google and iCloud accounts to Apple Calendar. That gives you a combined view on your device. A Google event stays in Google; it hasn't become an event on your iCloud calendar.

Copies serve a different purpose. Suppose your booking tool checks one Google calendar, but your personal appointments live in iCloud. A busy block on that Google calendar can represent an iCloud commitment. Check which calendars your booking tool actually reads before adding a sync.

Sync My Cal supports iCloud to Google Calendar, Google Calendar to iCloud, and paired rules for both directions. Use a one-way rule if only one calendar needs copies. See calendar sharing versus syncing for the other options.

Add a public iCloud calendar to Google without a sync service

For a calendar you're comfortable publishing, Apple provides a public calendar link. In Google Calendar on a computer, choose Other calendars → Add other calendars → From URL and enter the published link. The calendar appears under Other calendars. Follow Google's subscription instructions.

There's a privacy tradeoff. Apple says anyone with the public link can view and subscribe. Keep client meetings and personal appointments off a feed you don't intend to publish.

A subscription gives Google a separate view of that feed. It doesn't write busy blocks into your chosen Google calendar or send Google events back to iCloud. Refresh timing belongs to the receiving service. An imported calendar file is different again: it's a snapshot, so later changes don't arrive automatically.

Set up iCloud and Google calendar sync

  1. Check the Apple account. Make sure the calendar is stored in iCloud, rather than only on your iPhone or Mac. Sync My Cal supports owned iCloud calendars and private shares you can edit.
  2. Connect iCloud. Generate an app-specific password in Apple Account settings, then enter it with that account's email on Connect iCloud. You need two-factor authentication. The iCloud setup guide includes the password walkthrough.
  3. Connect Google. Open Calendars, connect the Google account, and select the calendar you want to use. Google Workspace policies may require administrator approval. Both selected calendars count toward your plan's allowance.
  4. Create the rule. Choose the source, destination, and copy detail. Use iCloud as the source to copy Apple events into Google, or Google as the source to send Google events into iCloud. Choose two-way rules for originals from both sides.
  5. Review before applying. Check all-day events, working hours, and other filters. Preview the proposed copies, then apply the sync. Connecting accounts alone doesn't create a rule.

Block personal time without publishing the appointment

Choose private busy blocks when a Google work calendar needs to show that you're unavailable. The copy omits the original title, description, and location. You don't need to make your iCloud calendar public.

Use full copies when the destination should receive event details. Attendees and reminders aren't copied. Read the destination calendar's sharing settings too: a copied title can be visible to people who already have access to that calendar.

The private calendar sync guide explains what crosses between accounts. If your personal calendar also needs work availability, configure the reverse direction separately with the copy mode that fits that audience.

Test an original event, then move and delete it

Create a short test event inside the rule's sync window. Open the destination calendar itself and check the time and copy detail. Move the original, check its copy, then delete the original and check that the copy disappears. For two-way rules, repeat with a new original on the other calendar.

iCloud is checked every 15 minutes. A large first sync can take several checks, and there's no guaranteed delivery time. Sync runs on our servers with your browser closed.

Keep editing the original event. Two-way rules copy originals in both directions; editing a managed copy doesn't update its source. Recurring events produce individual occurrence copies. Managed copies never become sources for another rule.

When an iCloud event doesn't appear in Google

First check which account owns the event. A calendar displayed in Apple Calendar may actually belong to Google or Microsoft. Connect its real provider. Also check the rule's direction, pause state, date window, and filters before reconnecting anything.

Sync My Cal supports iCloud calendars with up to 2,000 stored events or recurring series each, including old entries. Read-only subscriptions and device-only calendars aren't supported. Check the current iCloud limits if a calendar can't be selected.

If Apple access stops after you change your main password, generate a replacement app-specific password and reconnect the affected account. Don't send either password to support. If you also use Microsoft, follow the iCloud and Outlook guide for that calendar pair.

Put it into practice

Try it with two calendars

Start a 14-day Pro trial without a card. Check the copied event in your own Google, Outlook, or iCloud calendar before adding more rules.
